Church in the Community

“Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in…” – Luke 14:23

The New Song Community Center will be a front porch for the church in the heart of town, functioning as a living room and gathering place for connection, conversation, and community.

In a culture where people feel isolated and disconnected, the space will seek to cultivate belonging, creativity, and meaningful dialogue.

It will operate as a late-night coffee shop and community hub for creative outreach, thoughtful conversation, and compassionate service, providing an environment where relationships form organically and where curiosity is welcomed.

The goal is not simply to host events, but to create an atmosphere where people experience genuine care and community.

Relational Outreach

The Community Center will serve as a platform for creative and relational outreach through events such as:

  • Men’s Nights
  • re:generation
  • Why Jesus? discussion dinners
  • College and young adult gatherings
  • Artist gatherings and teachings
  • Community worship nights
  • Open conversations about faith, culture, and politics
  • Other creative gatherings that foster belonging and connection

These events are not simply programs, but opportunities to create spaces where relationships grow and meaningful conversations take place.

Solomon’s Coffee & Cocktails

Solomon’s Coffee & Cocktails will operate in the space as a late-night coffee shop and sober cocktail bar. The goal is to provide a “third-space” for late night connection and friendship that is sober, friendly, and sophisticated. Events may include:

  • Open-mic poetry and creative expression nights
  • Alcohol-free cocktail nights with DJs
  • “Wisdom Wednesday” trivia nights

Community Service & Mobilization

The Community Center will also serve as a launching point for practical service and care within Gunnison. These may include:

  • Organizing community service initiatives
  • Coordinating efforts such as diaper drives or other resource drives
  • Mobilizing volunteers to respond to practical needs in the community
  • Helping cultivate a culture of generosity and neighborly care

Partnership with Gunni Guiding Lights

The Community Center will also provide space for the work of Gunni Guiding Lights, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals through peer support and recovery.

Within this partnership, the Community Center will serve as:

  • A gathering place for peer-support groups, including addiction focused groups (AA / NA) or life-challenge focus groups (single parenting, caring for elderly parents, grief and loss, etc.)
  • A meeting space, support space, and training space for peer coaches across the community.

We are currently raising money to build out the location. We can source the labor, but we need funds to pay for the materials. Will you help us make it a reality? Every donation goes a long way. Thanks for your support!
