Leadership

Vernon Naron
Pastor
I couldn’t be more excited to get started at New Song. It’s a privilege to live and serve here.
Prior to taking the pastor role in January 2026, I worked in financial planning and estate planning before attending Denver Seminary, and in seminary, I worked at a church in downtown Denver overseeing prayer, outreach, and men’s ministry.
I’m passionate about seeing the lost reached with the hope of the gospel, and seeing us as His children walk into the fullness of Christ’s character.
I hope to meet you on an upcoming Sunday. Or send me an email and let’s get together. Blessings!

Laurae
Community Center Director
I am an 8 year Gunni local mom with 4 kiddos who is passionate about Jesus, homesteading, and supporting our peers.
I have spent 10+ years focused on being a light in dark places and using my lived experience to support individuals and families struggling through areas of crisis, such as teen pregnancy, domestic violence, loss, and system navigation.
I love supporting our local peers, navigators, and advocates who vulnerably pour out their hearts to help others. As the Founder of Guiding Lights of Gunni, I have been working on a project for the past couple of years to better fill gaps in Gunnison and create a safe space for peers to give and receive hope, empowerment, and support.
I am honored to be partnered with New Song as the Director of the New Song Community Center, and I am excited to see you there at one of our many upcoming events and groups 🙂

Mission & Vision
Passionate Worshipers
We believe Jesus is the perfection of all beauty. He is the creator of all beauty. He is the fullness of all beauty. And as a result, He is worthy of all worship. Every glimpse of beauty in creation – whether in love, goodness, truth, joy, mercy, music, nature, or sacrifice – finds its origin and fulfillment in Him.
Beauty is that which awakens love, joy, wonder, and desire within, so the more clearly we see the beauty of Jesus through Scripture by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the more our hearts are stirred toward affection, admiration, delight, and worship. So in becoming passionate worshipers, we set our lives to know the beauty of God.
Worship is not merely singing songs, but it is responding with our entire lives to the surpassing worth and beauty of Christ.
Becoming Like Jesus
We are committed to becoming like Jesus in every part of life. He is not merely Savior, but He is also our Lord, Leader, and Example we follow. Through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, the truth of God’s Word, and life together in Christian community, we seek to be formed into the character of Christ as we increasingly know Christ.
We desire to grow in holiness, humility, compassion, and love, so that the life of Jesus becomes visible in our homes, friendships, workplaces, and town. Spiritual formation is not behavior modification, but the ongoing work of becoming a people who increasingly reflect the heart of Christ.
The humility of Christ is our standard of maturity.
Living on Mission
We believe God ordained His church, including New Song, to fulfill His mission of saving and forming a people for Himself, and the gospel of Jesus Christ, the good news that God, in His love and mercy, sent His Son Jesus to live the life we could not live, die in our place for our sins, and rise again in victory over death, is chief in His mission.
The gospel is not merely the entry point into the Christian life. It is the foundation, fuel, and hope for everything we do.
We also believe Jesus calls every believer to live as a faithful witness to this gospel among friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and the world around us. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to proclaim the good news of Jesus through both word and deed: loving the poor, practicing hospitality, pursuing reconciliation, serving our community, and inviting people into the life and kingdom of God through the gospel of Jesus.
Our desire is to be a church that not only gathers in worship, but scatters in mission, carrying the presence, truth, and love of Jesus into everyday life.
