Ministry Work
If you are interested in ministry work and are willing to work part-time with New Song in Gunnison for at least six months, we would love to walk alongside you to see you learn, grow, and flourish in amazing ways, not only in your specific area of ministry but also in any other area of passion, conviction, or calling. I personally believe in maximally empowering and supporting people to walk out their unique story in serving God and others. We will brainstorm, support, encourage, and connect you in any way we can to support your growth in ministry.
Our deep and constant prayer for you would be that you grow not only in your ministry proficiency but in your overflowing love for Jesus, and that your year+ working with New Song would be nothing less than a life-changing, life-affirming, life-giving year of growing ever-nearer to Jesus in both skill and heart.
We will also help you fundraise for the position. Fundraising is an undervalued skill applicable in many areas of life, and we would help you in giving assigned readings, providing letter templates, encouraging follow-ups, etc. All donations to the church in your name would go directly toward your pay.

Intentional Spiritual Formation & Leadership Development
IIn addition to hands-on ministry responsibilities, this role includes a structured season of intentional spiritual formation and leadership development. The aim is to cultivate leaders through a holistic approach that shapes the head (theology), heart (spiritual life), and hands (practical ministry) for long-term service in the church.
Participants will pursue spiritual formation through rhythms of prayer, Scripture reading, reflection, and pastoral mentoring. These practices are designed to deepen love for Christ, strengthen spiritual disciplines, and cultivate a growing life with God.
At the same time, interns will grow in theological understanding through guided readings, study of core Christian doctrines, and discussions on interpreting and teaching Scripture. The goal is to develop both clarity in doctrine and humility in learning as they learn to faithfully handle God’s Word.
Leadership development will also take place through hands-on ministry formation. Like a residency model, interns will serve alongside experienced leaders while receiving coaching and feedback. Reflection assignments will address topics such as calling, servant leadership, evangelism, discipleship, conflict resolution, and shepherding people through difficult seasons.
Throughout the year, participants will complete weekly readings and reflections, join a staff discussion group focused on theology and ministry life, and attend conferences or leadership trainings that expose them to the broader church.
The overall goal is to develop leaders who love Christ deeply, handle Scripture faithfully, shepherd people wisely, and serve the local church with humility and perseverance for years to come.
